The Legal Advocacy Service (LAS) protects and enforces the rights of children and adults living with mental illness and/or a developmental disability as guaranteed by Illinois' mental health laws. LAS attorneys can provide legal information, referrals, and representation in court hearings and administrative proceedings. While most of the work LAS attorneys do is court appointed, LAS can help non-court appointed clients find effective private counsel.
